"It's my first Bullet Journal! Now what?"
If you are embarking on the bullet journal adventure, you like most people are looking to either become more organized, release mental tension, or it's your new hobby. Bullet Journals solve many problems for us, because they can be used in so many ways. But the main benefit is better mental health.
Yes, it is true that the bullet journal can also help us to get organized, and accomplish goals. But where do you start? Like so many who are just starting out, that is the question that is asked, over and over again. Just look at some of the popular spaces that fellow journal-ers congregate, like reddit and twitter. Both places are peppered with that question "Where do I start?" and "How do I start?". It can be overwhelming to start a bullet journal, especially when you look at what others are doing with their Journals.
One popular community on reddit allows users to share their creations, and many very beautifully drawn journal pages are posted with hundreds, and
sometimes thousands of "upvotes". This begs the question, "Do I have to be an artist to use a Bullet Journal?". When users ask this question in basically every community forum, the answer is a resounding "no". But still it is hard not to think - "how can I make a journal without drawing flowers or some other item on the pages?"

Remember - "What is a Bullet Journal?"
It is easy to get swept away into the flow of everyone else's creativity, and measure yourself by what others are doing. So, it is very important to remember what the Bullet Journal is - an organizational and scheduling tool.
The beauty behind the Bullet Journal is that you do what works for you. Drawing something elaborate is not necessary, but can be mentally relaxing - if that is what you need or want on the page. What is necessary is deciding what you are trying to accomplish, and how you want to accomplish it. Some examples might be:
- Completing classes
- Reading specific books
- Watching movies or documentaries
- Finishing a household project
- Taking medications
- Drinking enough water
- Getting enough sleep
- Doing household chores
The list goes on and on! Once you know what it is your trying to accomplish with your Journal, think about how you would like to organize the goals necessary to complete the task. Then you can start filling out your journal with the lists, schedules and encouragement you need to get it done!
Conclusion
So remember it isn't necessary to be Picasso or Rembrandt when working on your Bullet Journal. But, if you are, there is some Karma waiting for you at Reddit! If you want to create your Journal without drawing, and don't mind a digital option, consider using our App: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bullet-journal-v2/id1513040157.
Our app is designed to work on both iPad and iPhone. Our aim is to replace the paper version of the Bullet Journal and provide templates for you to use and make your Journal as creative as you would like, or as simple as you would like. And if you are a Picasso, feel free to submit your Templates to the Community of users so that they can enjoy your creativity.
